Sketch Level 1 - Mondays 7-9 PM
August 3 - September 28. NO CLASS ON SEPTEMBER 7.
Prerequisite: Minimum completion of improv levels 1–3 at Dad’s Garage or equivalent experience
Learn how to use improvisation as a tool to generate and explore sketch ideas. In this class, students will improvise scenes to discover concepts, characters, and scenarios, then re-improvise those ideas to develop material for sketches. You'll build on core improv techniques to fuel creativity, collaboration, and idea development for sketch writing.
Re-improvisation as a Writing Tool: Re-improvisation can help uncover unexpected ideas, new directions, refine your ideas leading to the continuous evolution of your work.
Use Improvisation Skills in Scripted Comedy: Learn how to use improvisation not just for performance, but as a writing technique to generate material and enhance creativity.
Write from Point of View: Explore and write from unique perspectives, discovering how point of view shapes humor and character.
Utilize Premise in Sketch Writing: Learn how to craft compelling scene premises that serve as the foundation of a sketch, setting the stage for humor and plot.
Explore the Game of the Scene: Just like short form improvisation, sketch comedy runs on ‘game’. Using game as an engine to drive plot in sketch comedy is an essential skill.
Stand-Up Comedy: Level 2 - Developing Your Voice - Mondays 7-9 PM

Wanna take your comedy to the next level?
This intermediate class focuses on refining existing material while continuing to generate new content. Using the foundations established in Level 1, you'll learn how to strengthen your writing, improve your delivery, and develop a distinct comedic voice.
In this class, you'll:
Refine and punch up existing jokes
Expand and deepen your material
Learn advanced editing and rewriting techniques
Discover what makes your comedic perspective unique
Build confidence in your artistic choices
Shape a stronger, more authentic stand-up set
This class is ideal for comedians who have a set in progress and are looking for guidance, feedback, and tools to elevate their work and strengthen their stage presence.
Level 1 Improv - Tuesdays 7-9 PM

Level 1 teaches the basics of improv theory as it relates to short-form improv and what we do at Dad’s Garage. It is the foundation for our entire class system!
During class, students are introduced to ideas and exercises that provide performance-building blocks to use throughout their improv careers.
This class is designed for students seeking continued improvement in their communication skills, as well as professionals looking for new, unique ways to approach public speaking and interpersonal dynamics in the workplace.

Level 1 Improv 55+ - Tuesdays 11 AM - 1 PM

For Adults 55+
This improv class is designed specifically for adults 55 and older who want to laugh, connect, and try something new in a welcoming and supportive environment. No experience is required—just a willingness to say "yes" to having fun.
Through engaging improv games and exercises, you'll strengthen creativity, sharpen your mind, build confidence, and enjoy the simple joy of spontaneous laughter. Whether you're looking to meet new people, challenge yourself in a low-pressure setting, or reignite a creative spark, this class offers a space to explore, play, and discover.
There are no scripts to memorize, no performances to perfect, and no pressure to be funny. The focus is on enjoying the process, supporting one another, and embracing the unexpected.
All you need is the desire to have fun, keep your imagination active, and continue growing through play. Come laugh, connect, and see where your creativity takes you.
Level 2 Improv - Tuesdays 7-9 PM

Level 2 takes the skills you learned in Level 1 and applies them to a broader understanding of narrative scene-based improvisation. In this class, you will create characters, explore relationships, and establish an understanding of the basic narrative structures that apply to improvised theatre.
Level 3 Improv - Tuesdays 7-9 PM
August 4 - September 29. NO CLASS ON SEPTEMBER 8.
Level 3 further explores short form with a focus on narrative techniques and expanding the skills you learned in level 2. You will learn to see a scene through to its full potential and dig deeper into the details that make a scene special.
Level 3 Improv - Wednesdays 7-9 PM
August 5 - September 30. NO CLASS ON SEPTEMBER 9.
Level 3 further explores short form with a focus on narrative techniques and expanding the skills you learned in level 2. You will learn to see a scene through to its full potential and dig deeper into the details that make a scene special.
Level 5 Improv (Spokane) - Tuesdays 7-9 PM

This dynamic format, built around a grounded core scene, expands into playful tangents before returning to the story. Put your narrative skills into action as you follow the fun, strengthen structure, and connect every scene to build a bold, story-driven improv show that’s cohesive, compelling, and unforgettable.
