In this advanced-level class, you'll learn the structure, skills, and storytelling techniques behind Dad's Garage's fantasy adventure improv format. Using the core principles of improvisation, you'll discover how to build compelling characters, collaborate on rich worlds, and create surprising narratives that evolve through play.

In this class, you'll:

Create and develop your own original fantasy character

Learn the structure and mechanics of the Tight Acquaintances format

Build relationships and character arcs over the course of a story

Practice long-form narrative improvisation

Use Dad's Garage's improvisational philosophy to embrace the unexpected and make bold choices

Collaborate to create immersive worlds, quests, and adventures

Whether you're a tabletop gaming enthusiast, a fantasy fan, or an experienced improviser looking to expand your storytelling skills, this class offers a unique opportunity to explore character-driven adventure comedy.

The class culminates in a live performance of the Tight Acquaintances format, where you'll bring your character and story to life before an audience.

You’ll learn and explore tried-and-true story structures adapted specifically for narrative improv, so you’re never left wondering, “What happens next?” You’ll gain flexible frameworks that help you heighten stakes, connect story threads, and build with clarity and confidence in the moment.
